Fall Overnight Trip
Skyline Drive and Luray, VA

Over the years some of our club’s most enjoyable events have been the overnight trips we try to schedule twice a year. We’ve gone hither and yon to various and sundry places in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia and these outings have always received high ratings. Our spring overnight was on a weekend so, by design, our fall trip will be a weekday venture. This time we’ll be headed west over some beautiful back roads to the sensational Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge region. Our stop for the night will be at the Mimslyn Inn in the lovely town of Luray, VA where we stayed once before and had a great time. We seriously hope you’ll consider coming along. Here’s the particulars: Our departure date will be Tuesday, Oct 17th. We’ll be meeting at 9:45 AM at the Wendy’s in Manassas just off I-66 off Exit 47 B.We’ll depart promptly at 10 AM and take back roads to Upperville for lunch at theHunter’s Head Tavern. Post lunch we’ll continue on very scenic roads west towards the Blue Ridge and eventually to our stop for the night at the Mimslyn Inn where we’ve been able to secure a group discount. They offer a range of rooms and, depending on what you select, one can expect to pay in the vicinity of $200. We should arrive by mid-afternoon to allow time to relax before an impromptu Happy Hour and dinner afterwards. On Wednesday we may visit the exceptional automobile museum in Luray and then try to sample some of Skyline Drive before heading back to town. We should all be safely home on Wednesday afternoon before sundown. If you want to come along, all you have to do is give the Mimslyn Inn a call and reserve your room. The number is (540) 743-5105.
